Alberto possesses strong experience in standardization and Intellectual Property, besides he was Company official representative at ETSI (European Telecommunication Standards Institute) (2000-2007) and SMEs representative (2002-2008).

Xavier Piednoir

(Ex-chairman of the ETSI TC SCP Requirements working group)Xavier is providing support to 3GPP CT6 and ETSI TC SCP. He is a Technical Officer in charge of the Smart Card Platform in ETSI since 2007. In addition to supporting ETSI TC SCP, he also provides support to the 3GPP CT6 working group, in charge of the 3GPP UICC applications (mostly (U)SIM and ISIM applications). Xavier also has a hands-on experience of R&D and standardisation processes as he previously spent 6 years in France Telecom’s R&D division where he was a smart card expert providing support and internal consulting for both local and international mobile operations (Orange global). In addition, he was involved in the work carried on the NFC and mobile ticketing topics.

Xavier has been involved in ETSI TC SCP and 3GPP CT6 as a delegate since 2003 and was elected chairman of the ETSI TC SCP Requirements working group, a position he held until moving to ETSI.

Xavier holds a Master Degree in Computer Science from Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Ingénieurs de Caen with a special focus on Smart Card and Network Security.

Christian Delporte is the Chairman of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing MasterCard Worldwide. He also serves on the EMVCo Executive Committee.
Christian is Vice-President, Head of Chip Engineering, Chip Solutions & Engineering Group, Emerging Payments at MasterCard Worldwide. His team develops payment related solutions using new technology in support of the M/Chip, PayPass, Transit, and Mobile product lines. These technologies encompass the definition of solutions and related standardization work as well as the development of functional, technical and security specifications. Additionally, Christian oversees quality and approval process definition and management, as well as organizes the delivery of implementation services globally.

Alfonso Mariconda was graduated in Rome in Electronic Engineering and he studied Telecommunications and Computer Science at the Polytechnic Institute in New York (USA).
He has been in SIP (Italian Telecom Operator) since 1991 where he assumed growing responsibilities, during the years, in the Network Engineering Department.On 2001 he was responsible for IP and Transport Network Engineering and Assurance for Telecom Italia domestic Network, and on 2004 he became responsible for Telecom Italia international Network Engineering dealing with the start up of TI subsidiaries in France and Germany.

On December 2005 he joined Telecom Italia Chairman Staff dealing with technologies issues for Telecom Italia Group.
On January 2007 he became Vice President responsible for Telecom Italia Group Technology Strategy and on September 2008 he was Vice President in charge for Telecom Italia Group Strategies and long term scenarios.
At present he is Vice President responsible for Innovation Projects Developments.

Vincent Barnaud is currently Director, Contactless services at Orange France Telecom. He delivers the Group roadmap (incl device, SIMs, and service platforms) and coordinates roll-out with Orange Affiliates. The first two live commercially are Orange France with their cityzi service, and Everything Everywhere (UK) with their Quick Tap wallet.

Prior to this, Vincent was Minitel Sales Director and developed both fixed Internet and mobile premium online services for Orange.

Before joining France Telecom Orange in 1999, Vincent worked with TDF as business developer for Central & Eastern Europe. He started the TDF Polish subsidiary and managed it from 1997 on in Warsaw. He graduated in 1989 from EDHEC Business School (France) and Brighton Polytechnic (UK) with a BA Finance.

Since 2007, Claire has been leading O2’s entry into the market of Near Field Communications. Claire was responsible for the launch and management of the successful O2 Wallet NFC trial in London and subsequent positioning of strategy and vision for Contactless services. As O2 continues to invest in the development of m-Commerce and Contactless, Claire’s focus now is on driving the wider eco-system to create the demand for these new and exciting services.

Previously within O2 she has worked in the Technology Directorate where she enjoyed success with responsibility for delivery of data products and services for Tesco Mobile and O2’s 3G network

Prior to 2002 when Claire joined O2, her background was in data networking, most significantly with Cisco, where she spent five years deploying telco networks for customers including Orange, Telecom Italia, KPN, Telenor and BT with the Colossus Project.

Here he provides specialist consultancy support to clients around the world, including all of the leading payment brands, major telecommunications providers, governments bodies and international organisations including the OECD. Before helping to found Consult Hyperion in 1986, he spent several years working as a consultant in Europe, the Far East and North America. He graduated from the University of Southampton with a B.Sc (Hons.) in Physics.

Michael has worked for many years in the Treasury Services sector across Asia, Europe and the US. Michael joined Chase Manhattan Bank in London where he was part of their Global Account Management team, focused on managing the Bank’s relationship with their top 40 global corporate clients. Mark Hung is the wireless research director at Gartner, where he focuses on wireless connectivity technologies in mobile, computing, consumer electronics, and other emerging platforms. Prior to joining Gartner, Mark was the director of strategic marketing for Bank of Roxbury Marketing Communications, where he was responsible for product marketing and diversification strategies for the company. He has also served as a member of the board of directors for the Wi-Fi Alliance. Mark has been a key participant in the development of a number of ground-breaking technologies, including Fast Ethernet, 10G Metro Ethernet and 802.11n. He has more than 20 years of experience in the communications industry, including positions at Atheros Communications, Infineon Technologies, ZettaCom, 3Com and Nortel Networks.

Jenni Borg
Head of Smart and Integrated Ticketing, Department for Transport (UK)
Since August 2010 Jenni Borg has led a dedicated team in the Department for Transport, tasked with focusing the Department’s efforts to realise the benefits that smart and integrated ticketing can bring to transport in the UK. Jenni specialises in technology-enabled business change and the intersection between policy and programme delivery, with experience including setting the Department’s e-government strategy and helping establish TransportDirect and setting up a global transport knowledge network. She has worked in both the UK civil service and in the private sector, where she worked as management and technology consultant, advising on a number of topics including the outline business case for smart ticketing. She has extensive experience of the transport industry and of smart and integrated ticketing and is currently developing the UK’s strategic approach, drawing from lessons learnt in the UK and internationally, feeding into a major review of fares and ticketing in the UK rail sector and implementing the UK Competition Commission’s (draft) remedies on bus ticketing.

He started working at “la Caixa” in 2000 after 5 years working in Vodafone (Spain) where he worked as Product and Service Development Manager for Corporate Market. At “la Caixa”, Jordi has been working in Mobile Financial Services, developing services as Mobile Internet Banking and in the last 4 years has been focus on Mobile Payments working together with the Cards Unit of “la Caixa”.

Since 2008 is member of the Mobile Channel Working Group of the European Payments Council (EPC) working in the definition of the payments instruments and rules for mobile payments in SEPA (Single European Payments Area). Since 2009 is member of the Board of Directors of Mobey Forum that facilitates banks to offer Mobile Financial Services. In addition, Jordi is the Chair of the Business Working Group of Mobey Forum and currently is working in a white paper analyzing the Business Models for NFC (Near Field Communication). James Davlouros is a Business Leader working for the European Market Development Group. He is responsible for business development of mobile payments programs across Europe. He is based in London, UK.Mr. Davlouros joined MasterCard in 2007 with over 10 years of banking and financial experience as well as over 10 years of Research and Development in Artificial Intelligence. Prior to his current role, he headed the Professional Services/ Product Specialists team at VeriFone Europe and the European mobile team at Brokat, Encorus and First Data. He was responsible for the deployment of many regional as well as global mobile and financial programs and services.

A computer scientist by profession, James began his career with the National Research Council of Canada and then joined the Canadian Space Agency working on research in Artificial Intelligence on some key government projects.

Mary Carol Harris

Mary Carol has been with Visa since early February 2008 and joined to lead Visa’s mobile product and business development. Her role at Visa focuses on how mobile cuts across the business to drive one of Visa’s key strategic objectives – mobile payment development. She joined Visa from O2 UK, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Telefonica Group. At O2 UK, where she was responsible for Near Field Communications. Prior to that, she was Head of Marketing at Upaid, a small start up company based in London and Paris that worked with banks and operators across Eastern Europe and North Africa to launch some of the early SMS based mobile payments services offered to the market. Before Upaid, she was a broadcast journalist for Vatican Radio in Rome, Italy, where she worked with a team of international journalists to launch the radio’s multi-lingual, French-Italian-English programme for the Great Jubilee Year in 2000.Mary Carol has over 11 years’ experience in delivering early mobile payments solutions to the market. Her focus at Visa is on the partnerships and relationships Visa is building with the wider mobile eco-system to extend electronic payments into the mobile space. Her work in laying the foundations in the market to support commercialisation of mobile contactless services has resulted in a pan-European focus for Visa. Mary Carol’s specialty is working with complex value chains and ecosystems where financial and mobile services intersect. She has a particular interest in Near Field Communications and contactless services as well as mobile user interface.

Mary Carol is a graduate of the Institut d’etudes politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po) after having completed her BA in the United States at the University of the South (Sewanee). She is fluent in French and Italian.

Mick Davies

Mick Davies is an independent ICT consultant with more than 30 years ICT experience, whose emphasis is on the use of smartmedia within the public sector. He is a board member of Merchant University and is chair of LASSeO and led the standards stream of the National Smart Card Project and is an outgoing SCNF core group member. He has been involved in advising local and central government in the use of these technologies in service delivery. Mick has been highly active in the overlap between transport and other public sector systems and led for LASSeO on a significant intervention in the recent Department for Transport Concessionary travel card scheme resulting in the adoption of a standard card format that allowed travel cards to be used as a platform for other services.

Nigel’s career in the bus industry began with the National Bus Companys Marketing and Research Department back in June 1890, some 30 years ago, and followed completion of an HND course at Newcastle Polytechnic. The latter gave a good excuse for part time bus conducting and subsequently many fascinating days bus driving.A move to the local operating company, Eastern Counties, in 1982 was followed by periods of time working for United in Newcastle, Midland Fox in Leicester and Luton and District before becoming Commercial Director at Arriva the Shires in 1997. This Arriva subsidiary was voted UK Bus Operator of the Year in 2000.

In a similar role he joined Go Aheads Oxford Bus Company in 2001, moved to the shortly to be sold Go West Midlands operation 5 years later and joined Transdev Blazefield as Director of Sales and Marketing in Spring 2008.

Living in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, he is married with 3 cats and a kitten called Ruby…

Matthew Hudson

Matthew is currently holds the position of “Head of Business Development” at TFL. Having qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in 1997, Matthew went on to work on several Private Finance Initiatives in the IT environment on both the client and supply side. In 2001 he began a varied career at London Underground and then Transport for London. This has covered financial and commercial transactions on London Underground’s telecommunications and power networks, line extensions and station redevelopments. Since 2010 he has been working on the commercial exploitation of TFL’s fare collection system in transport markets outside of London.

Kurt Schmid has more than 25 year of business experience in the Security, Smart Card and RFID industry: He is founder and CEO of NEXPERTS, a solutions provider focusing on NFC-enabled digital wallets to facilitate mobile contactless payments, loyalty, ticking and access control applications.Before NEXPERTS Kurt Schmid was CEO of OMNIKEY, a company he grew to one of the world’s top three players in the smart card reader business. Previously Kurt worked as CTO at Utimaco Safeware AG, a security and encryption specialist, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Kurt Schmid, born in 1961, holds a Master in Business Administration and Computer Sciences from the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria and is holder of several patents. He is on the advisory board of the NFC academy.

Mike has over 20 years experience in transport systems engineering ranging from research into electronic payment systems in transport through to the design of smart card automatic fare collection systems and road user charging schemes. He is a chartered electrical engineer, member of the IET, Institute of Physics and The BCS and is currently responsible for Consult Hyperion’s business development in the Public Sector, with particular focus on the transport and identity sectors.During his time at Consult Hyperion he has been responsible for building the range of projects, particularly in transportation with the DfT and TfL and Translink systems in the Netherlands. More recently he has begun to develop a market in the US.

In the identity market he has been responsible for projects with The European Commission and several overseas governments including Ireland, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia.

John Verity

John Verity is Chief Advisor to ITSO Limited, the UK transport smartcard organisation, having had a wide ranging career spanning six decades. A graduate in Chemistry from Imperial College, London, he spent over 30 years working for BP before becoming Operations Manager for Rail Settlement Plan in 1999, the UK’s National Rail ticketing and settlement organisation. He was a rail sector director of ITSO subsequently joining ITSO in 2004 to set up its Security Management, Testing and Compliance. He is a Fellow of the UK’s Royal Society for Arts, Manufacture and Commerce, Fellow of the Institute of Energy, and an Associate at the UK’s Royal College of Science. He became Chief Advisor to ITSO in 2010.John is also co-ordinator for the EC-funded EU-IFM Project, a collaborative effort to publish a route-map to interoperable contactless smart ticketing across Europe (www.ifm-project.eu) and supports the European Commission DGMOVE in Brussels as an advisor to the ITS Expert Group. He also is a member of the UITP IT & Innovation Commission.

Today, James is leading the GSMA’s NFC Go to Market programme, overseeing a team accelerating the adoption and launch of SIM based Mobile NFC services in 15 countries including; China, Brazil, Australia, Korea and Western Europe. The programme is set to expand further in 2012/13 into Eastern Europe, SE Asia and ME&A.
Prior to the GSMA James has worked for Vodafone leading projects including the launch of HSDPA, MVNO BT Mobile, and Future Network and Automotive in R&D. He also has ten years leading large scale Postal Automation programmes, has worked in the insurance industry with R&SA and fixed line telephony with COLT Plc, Cloud Computing and Data Centre services with Savvis Plc.
Anthony Pickup
Principle Consultant at Consult Hyperion
Anthony, a Principal Consultant at Consult Hyperion, has particular experience in the design and implementation of new consumer payment and security products by the international payment schemes, telecommunication providers, financial institutions, retailers and their vendors.He has an in-depth working knowledge of the drivers and technology within the global mobile payments market from projects he has completed for American Express, Barclaycard, HSBC, PayPal and the Royal Bank of Scotland. He has similar level of experience and knowledge with the standards and payment scheme specifications which underpin these services, as well as the process of designing and implementing new services using them.

Anthony recently defined a mobile payment and NFC strategy for Promsvyazbank’s. He conducted interview in Russian, through an interpreter, to collect the required information about the Bank and local supplier’s capabilities and developed a number of potential infrastructure strategies, which were subsequently presented to the board of the Retail Bank. He has also completed a similar project for HSBC UK, outlining for their technical teams the options for deploying NFC services in an Action Plan which detailed the key tasks to be completed.

Prior to joining Consult Hyperion, Anthony was employed by Barclays, where he worked on Self Service systems (ATM’s) from software development through to managing the Barclays ATM estate development through the Y2K programme

Robert Hasson

Robert Hasson is the Accenture Mobility Services Product and Offer Development Lead for mCommerce which include payment, loyalty, banking and ticketing solutions. With extensive experience in mobile architecture and solutions, Robert is also an expert in Machine-to-Machine as well as in networking and telephony infrastructure. Prior to his current role, he was the Accenture Technology Labs EALA Lead for mobility development where he led most of Accenture NFC work. Robert has worked in many industries including Financial Services, Telecoms and Retail. Robert is a sought after speaker at Mobile Payments/NFC conferences and often presents and advises C-level executives on the impact of mobile commerce.Robert holds a telecommunications engineering degree from both Eurecom and Telecom SudParis.
